Hi!
I'm Ryan, and I write from Nouméa.
I live in New Caledonia. For a living, I build websites. Whenever I can, I leave: mostly for Southeast Asia, Oceania, and further when the chance comes up.
I am not a photographer. My photos are taken with my phone, and that's just fine. What matters to me is what you need to know before you go.
Why this blog?
Before every trip, I spent hours looking for simple answers: how many nights to stay, how to get around without renting a scooter, which area to sleep in.
The answers existed, but scattered, often outdated, rarely written by someone who had really been there. Rovatrip is the guide I wish I had read. I write it when I get back, and I keep it up to date.
How I work
three rules, not one more
I say what I have tested
When I slept somewhere or did an activity, I say so. Otherwise, I tell you where my recommendation comes from.
Practical before pretty
Durations, routes, budget, pitfalls: the information that helps you decide, before the nice photos.
Up-to-date articles
Every article shows when it was last updated. If something changes, I fix it.

How the blog makes money
Some links are affiliate links: if you book a hotel or an activity through them, I earn a small commission. You pay the same price. It lets me write without intrusive ads, and it does not change my opinions.

Write to me, I read every message.
